Artwork & Design Guidelines
At Premier Print UK, we are able to accept a variety of different formats. This includes PDF, EPS, TIFF, JPEG, GIF and PNG.
When you are providing us with your own artwork, please make sure that you supply a high resolution PDF as CMYK and print ready. If you are sending images, please ensure that they are of high enough resolution as possible.
If you are sending over an EPS file, please ensure that all fonts are outlined.
We do not accept Microsoft Word files as they are not a print ready format. Microsoft Word is fine for desktop printers.
If you are using a modern version of Microsoft Word, it is possible to save your file as a PDF. However, check when you open the PDF file that nothing has moved or if there are font problems.
Ideally, we would never recommend producing any designs for print in Microsoft Word. Instead, use applications such as QuarkXpress or InDesign.
Our maximum file size upload is 100mb.
If your file size is over 100MB, we recommend two platforms which are both free to register with and use. Dropbox will allow you 1GB of storage and We Transfer will allow 2GB of storage.
Simply create a folder and upload your file to it, then share the folder to our email address at info@premierprint.net. If you are sending a file as part of a web order, please remember to put in your order reference number within the email.
Trim marks on a file indicate where the product is to be cut to the desired size. Also, it refers to finished size of a product.
The bleed is the area to be trimmed and ensures that no unprinted edges occur in the final trimmed document.
The safe margin is the area between the text and graphics that are not meant to be trimmed.
When providing a business card (for example), please supply the PDF as one document of front and back. If you require a spot UV (such as for the logo), we suggest using either Photoshop or Illustrator. Create a single layered version of the logo and make it 100% Magenta. Then put that layered file into the third page of the PDF in the correct position.
At premierprint UK we print in CMYK. When submitting your artwork, please ensure that all files and images are converted to CMYK before sending. Although we will accept your file in RGB, your artwork will be converted to CMYK at our studio prior to print. This could affect the colours that you were expecting.

Some types of printing are subject to VAT dependent on the content of the artwork being printed on them. For example, a flyer is normally zero rated. However, if the artwork being printed onto it contains a form, or could be deemed to be a voucher (e.g. “bring this flyer with you and receive 10% off your meal”) then the item becomes standard rated. VAT will then have to be charged on it.
All business stationary, posters, roller banners and exhibition stands are subject to VAT.
This is only a small snippet of the VAT rules for printed products. For more information, please see the following government website: www.gov.uk/business-tax/vat
The current VAT rate for standard printed products is 20%.

We use ECO friendly vegetable based inks as we believe that printing should be as kind to the environment as possible. This is just one of the ways we help to achieve this.
We use a wide variety of paper stocks from many different suppliers. As it is a natural product, from time to time the feel can vary. However, we constantly monitor this to ensure the best quality product.
